Important Chain Saw Certification Information
Applications Open July 1:
All extended certifications have expired as of January 1, 2023.
We currently have one certified C Bucker and two more working on getting recertified as C Buckers. The C Buckers can teach the course and evaluate students on chainsaw operation.
I need to know who needs re-certification.
As with everything else this year, the bounty of snow will greatly reduce the time we have available for re-certification (need to be able to get to the trees for the practical,
New course has expedited what we can do: classes of four or less students can be certified in one day (8 hrs).
Has pre-class work that will greatly speed up the class.
- 4 hours of class, 4 hours of practical- we will need some place to operate a chainsaw and make three cuts on downed trees.
- New course stresses the "thinking sawyer."
- Forest Service has created a national data base for chain saw certification. All qualified sawyers certificates will be registered eventually.
- One person for BCHU will be allowed to enter data.
- Each organization can only see data for members of your organization.
- Entry will start with this year, so in 3 years will be able to pull up who needs to renew their certification.
