WHO WE ARE

Back Country Horsemen of Utah (BCHU) is a state-wide organization of men and women concerned about sustained equestrian access and proper use on our public lands. We are the Utah members of Back Country Horsemen of America (BCHA) with the same commitment to protecting the access of equestrians to public lands.

We welcome riders of all types, ages and interests into our chapters!

WHAT WE DO

We are devoted equestrians who love to ride and explore new trails, and we assist with trail maintenance and improvement projects, keeping trails clear for all user groups.

OUR PURPOSE

  1. To perpetuate the common sense use and enjoyment of horses and mules in America's back country and wilderness.
  2. To work to ensure the public lands remain open to recreational pack and saddle stock use.
  3. To assist the agencies responsible for the management of public lands.
  4. To educate, encourage and solicit active participation in wise and sustaining use of back country resources by horsemen and the general public, commensurate with our heritage.
  5. To foster and encourage the formation of new chapters of Back Country Horsemen throughout Utah.
  6. OUR VISION

In order to protect our heritage of back country stock use, we have joined service and education as composites to encourage and solicit active participation in the wise use of the back country resource by horsemen and the general public commensurate with our heritage.

We welcome riders of all types, ages and interests into our chapters!
